In July of 1963, the Columbia Swimming League (CSL) was formed with six teams. Five private clubs – Spring Lake (now called Rockbridge), Forest Lake, Spring Valley, Columbia Country Club, and Jewish Community Center – along with Maxcy Gregg organized the League. They started with a five week season beginning July 10th of 1963.
Today, there are 24 full member teams, including the original six teams. These teams are located throughout the Midlands. The season runs from May to July every year and is a great way to make your children, from 4 to 18 years old, safer around the water. The season always concludes with our Annual City Meet, where we have over 1000 registered swimmers participating in the two day event held at the USC Sol Blatt PE Center.
The league is operated by volunteers from all teams.
