YMCA NW Seals had another strong Session 4  to come from behind to take their 4th straight City Meet championship.

Three of the girls in the 13-14 age group that played a key role in that comeback are pictured at left.

Columbia Swim League awarded scholarships to 5 very deserving student-athletes today. Winners from left to right are:

Sam Ervin of Rockbridge (left) and Tim Carmody of Kings Grant (right) were voted co-coaches of the year for 2008. The recognition is voted on by all head coaches and was awarded during Session 4 of the City Meet.

For the third straight year Forest Lake leads the City Meet after the first day. In the past they accomplished it with plenty of finishes on the award stand, but this year's approach was lots of finishes outside the top 3.

214 swimmers from12 summer league clubs raised $10,255 for Camp Kemo! We had a total of 214 swimmers from 12 Columbia Swim League clubs participate on Thursday night at the Sol Blott pool. Highest individual fundraisers were Lauren and Jenny Roth from Wildewood who raised 1,000 dollars!  It was a fun night- we had so many volunteers to help with registration, kickboards, lane lines, snacks and prizes. Jeanne Schmidt from Camp Kemo came to the event and spoke about the uniqueness of the camp and how last years KKC allowed 12 children to attend their camp this summer.

Highest team fundraisers:

  1. Rockbridge ($2,822)
  2. Wildewood  ($ 2,755)

Highest team participants (by % of team):

  1. Spring Valley (53%!)

About the Columbia Swimming League  About the Columbia Swimming League Minimize 

The Columbia Swimming League is a recreational league for competitive swimming in the Columbia, SC area. Organized competiton occurs Over 20 teams participate providing plenty of opportunity for kids from all over the midlands to be involved.

Teams compete in dual meets during June and early July, then the season culminates in a two-day City Meet in mid-July. The league is operated by volunteers from all teams.
